  • What is an Insurance Adjuster?
A Public Insurance adjuster is a licensed professional, specialized in being the liason between the homeowner and their insurance company. A good adjuster can accurately assess the amount of the damage and how much it will cost to restore the client to their PRE-LOSS condition. Meltzer Property and Adjusting's Public Adjusters are not only the voice of the homeowner, defending their interests to the insurance company, but also act as guides, easing stress and assisting the homeowners throught the claim process.
  • Hiring an Adjuster vs. Going it alone

Many people ask the golden question:
"why should I hire and adjuster when I could just file the claim on my own."

When a person is hurt or ill, they don't self-diagnose because it can cause even FURTHER damage. Meltzer Property and Adjusting's Public Adjusters each specialize in different types of damage (Fire, storm, water damage, etc.) and know the "ins and outs" of the claim filing process.

Whether it's collecting the proper and necessary documents, preventing further damage, receiving responses in a timely manner, assessing the all-inclusive amount the homeowners deserves, or just having someone to go to with even the smallest question; Meltzer Property and Adjusting's skilled team is there to assist you.

  • What is covered in my insurance policy?
Each policy is different. Each Insurance company has its own rules and regulations. Florida is a unique state, with hurricane and storm damages in addition to the "normal" sorts of damages seen elsewhere in the country. One of our adjusters needs to take a look at the Homeowners insurance policy to see if the damage is covered.
  • How long does the process take?

It varies. It can range from about two weeks to more than a few months.

It depends on the scope and extent of the damage and the urgency of payment needed. Meltzer Property and Adjusting works very hard to insure that the homewoner gets compensated as soon as possible.

  • Do you charge for the inspection?
No. Our adjuster will come and take a look at your policy and inspect the damage with no charge and with NO OBLIGATION.
  • Will my premium go up because of filing a claim?
Your premium will NOT go up if you file a claim; the insurance company will merely keep track of your filed claims with them and other insurances.

This is a common misconception and a reason why homeowners are very hesitant in reporting their claim to the insurance company. The insurance company keeps track of all the claims filed by each homeowner and in each property. This inforation prevents fraudulent claims from being filed and "double dipping" by filing the same claim twice with the same or different insurance companies.

  • What is Appraisal?

If Meltzer Property and Adjusting's Adjuster and the insurance company adjuster do NOT agree on the amount the homeowner should receive for the damage there is the option of going to "Appraisal."

In the Appraisal process, Meltzer Property andf Adjusting will seek 3rd party opinions from professionals and build a case for your claim.

Appraisal is an option for some claims but only if it written in the policy.

  • What if I need EMERGENCY assistance?
If you have a fire or need emergency assistance call our office immediately or send an email and specify the urgency in the title. Our adjuster will call you as soon as possible.
